Works with any PDF, fillable or not

Many forms are just scanned paper with no boxes to click. AcornDoc lets you type anywhere on the page, and with Match PDF switched on, new text copies the size, color and boldness of the nearby printed text, so your answers look like they belong there. Prefer your own style? Pick a size and color, and use B for bold.

Forms often ask for personal details like ID numbers, addresses or health information. Here they stay on your device: the form is filled in and saved inside your browser and never uploaded.

How do I tick a checkbox?

Choose Mark (or press M), pick a tick, cross or dot, and click the box. Click it again to remove the mark.

My form has fillable fields. Will they be filled in?

Your answers are drawn on top of the form, so they look right on screen and on paper. Software that reads form fields won’t see them as filled in, which is fine for printing or emailing, but not for forms that are processed automatically.

Can I change text that’s already in the PDF?

Not directly. Cover the old words with White-out and type the new ones on top. The covered text is still in the file, so to remove private details for good, use Redact PDF.

Which languages are supported?

Added text uses Helvetica, which covers English and other languages written with Latin letters. Other alphabets and emoji aren’t supported yet.

What you can do

Tips & limits

A few things worth knowing before you start.

Hiding private details? Use Redact, not white-out. White-out only covers text: it's still inside the file and can be copied or found by search. Redact removes it for good by saving that page as an image.

Questions

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your PDF is opened, edited and saved entirely inside your browser. It never reaches our servers, and we can't see it.

Is it really free?

Yes. There's no account, no trial, no page limit and no watermark on your files.

Will my original file be changed?

No. Download saves a new copy (named “…-edited.pdf”). The original file on your device is never touched.

How do I edit text that's already in the PDF?

Use White-out to cover the old words, then use Text to type the new ones on top. Remember that the covered text is hidden, not deleted.

How do I change or remove something I added?

Choose Select (or press V), click the item, then drag to move it (even onto another page), drag the round corner handle to resize, or press Delete. Undo works too.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in up-to-date Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox. Tap the panel icon in the toolbar to see your pages. Detailed edits are easier on a larger screen.

Why does some of my text show as “?”

Added text currently supports Latin letters only (English, Spanish, French, German and similar). Support for more alphabets is planned.

How big can my file be?

Up to 200 MB. Everything happens on your device, so very large files may be slow on older phones.

Will links and form fields in my PDF still work?

Yes, in most cases. If you rotate a page and add something to it, links and form fields on that page are removed. Redacted pages are saved as images, so their links and text selection go too.

How accurate are measurements?

As accurate as the drawing’s scale. Scanned or resized drawings may not match their printed scale, so calibrate against a dimension you know and double-check critical lengths.
