Smaller, sharper, in the format you need
Phone photos are often 3 to 10 MB each, too big for many email attachments and online forms. Lowering the quality to around 75% usually cuts the size by more than half with no visible difference, and shrinking the longest side to 1920 px (full HD) saves even more.
Need a different format? Convert PNG screenshots to JPG, photos to WebP for a website, or iPhone HEIC photos to JPG so any app accepts them. Everything happens inside your browser, and the new copies don’t include location or camera details.
Which settings should I use?
For email and forms, try JPG, quality 75% and 1920 px. For a website, WebP at 1280 px is usually plenty. For printing, keep the original size and a quality of 85% or more.
Why didn’t my PNG get smaller?
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, so it can’t be squeezed much without resizing. For photos, choose JPG or WebP as the format. Keep PNG for screenshots, logos and images with transparent backgrounds.
What is WebP?
A modern image format that is usually smaller than JPG at the same quality. All current browsers open it, but some older programs don’t, so choose JPG if you’re not sure.
Is the location removed from my photos?
Yes, new copies don’t include location or camera details. If an image is already as small as it can get, the original is kept unchanged, including any details it contains.
